What is the lifetime of the infrared heaters?

When we think about choosing our heating system, we need to consider that it is a long-term investment. That's why it's a good idea to find out what the life expectancy of sympathetic solutions is. Now we want to answer the frequently asked question: how long will our infrared heater last?

What is the life expectancy of the panels?

The expected lifetime of the panels is around 100,000 hours. This means that even if you operate the devices 24 hours a day, 365 days a year - which you obviously don't - they will still be operational for about 11 years. If you make a reasonable calculation, taking into account the length of the heating season, you can say that your appliance will last you for the rest of your life. Compare this to the average boiler, which will almost certainly give up after 15-20 years, even if you maintain and look after it regularly. That's a huge difference in favour of the infrapanel.

How is that possible?

The inserts do not contain any moving parts, so there are no do not require maintenance. There is simply nothing to wear out in them. Conventional heating systems, on the other hand, are made up of complex mechanical components that need to be replaced from time to time, and the entire heating system itself needs to be serviced annually. This is a constant drain on money and time, not to mention the lack of available, reliable technicians. Maintenance of the infra-panels is something we can simply do ourselves: wipe them down with a clean cloth every now and then and that's it! How nice does that sound?

What should I do to make my infrared heater last as long as possible?

If we want to look after our investment, there are a few things we can do ourselves to optimise the performance and lifetime of our infrastructure panels.

The infrared heater heats not the air, but the objects and walls in the room. That's why you can make the room warm in seconds. So, when you're away, it's unnecessary to leave it on all the time. It can be connected to a thermostat, making it very easy to control the temperature. If you choose the WIFI model, you can even control the panels when you're away from home, so you don't even have to wait a few minutes for them to warm up when you get home. This is not only useful when you're travelling, but also when you're working away from home, because if no one else is home - and there's no dog or cat in the house - you don't have to be warm in the house from 0-24.

Performance can also be affected if you place large objects - such as a sofa or table - directly in front of the infrared heaters. These can block the rays and prevent them from doing their job in the room. That's why it's a good idea to mount them on the ceiling, for example, so you can make sure you get the most out of their performance.
